HIFU
What is HIFU?
HIFU (High-Intensity Focused Ultrasound) is a non-surgical aesthetic treatment that delivers focused ultrasound energy deep under the skin to stimulate collagen and elastin production. It’s designed to tighten and lift skin in areas like the face, neck and jawline without incisions or downtime.
Our HIFU device is on the Australian Register of Therapeutic Goods (ARTG) under number 357130. That means it’s a regulated medical device that has undergone assessment by the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) for safety and quality.
At Luxe & Lavish Health & Beauty Clinic, our qualified therapists pride ourselves on using a medical-grade HIFU device that is both TGA approved and award winning for its efficacy. This ensures that our clients receive safe and effective treatments, achieve maintaining our commitment to delivering high-quality services.
Results
Your lifestyle impacts your HIFU results.
Avoid smoking/vaping – it attacks collagen and slows healing.
Protect your skin from the sun – wear daily SPF.
Use supportive skincare – avoid harsh products; we recommend Rinascentia Face & Neck cream, packed with five, high quality peptides to strengthen and support collagen.
Eat well, hydrate, and sleep properly – healthy skin responds better.
Limit alcohol and manage stress – both affect healing and results.
Healthy skin = better, longer-lasting outcomes.
Preparation
To ensure optimal results and safety during your HIFU treatment, it is recommended to avoid using retinoids, BHA (beta hydroxy acid), and AHA (alpha hydroxy acid). These active ingredients can sensitise the skin and increase the risk of irritation or adverse reactions during and after the HIFU procedure. It is recommended to discontinue the use of these potent exfoliating and resurfacing agents at least a week prior to your HIFU session to ensure optimal results and minimise potential side effects.
In addition, it is recommended to arrive with a makeup free face and to avoid taking any anti-inflammatory medications.
COMMoN QUESTions
1. Will it lift my skin enough?
HIFU is great for mild to moderate laxity, think subtle jawline definition, softened jowls, and tightened neck contours. It’s a natural collagen stimulator, not a surgical facelift.
2. How long until I see results?
You’ll often notice some tightening early, but full collagen remodelling takes 2–3 months, with results lasting up to 12–18 months depending on age and skin condition.
3. Does it hurt?
Clients may feel small pulses of energy, often described as a warm tingling sensation or a light elastic band flicking against the skin as the ultrasound is delivered. Most find the treatment very manageable.
4. Is there downtime?
Minimal, redness or slight swelling is common, but you can usually resume normal activities the same day.
5. How many treatments do I need?
For most clients, a single session per area is recommended, with optional maintenance 12–18 months later.
6. How does HIFU compare to Needling/Lasers or Botox?
They do different things:
HIFU improves skin quality by stimulating collagen within the deeper structural layers.
Botox relaxes muscles.
Needling & Lasers stimulate collagen within the outer layers of the skin only.
Often the best outcomes combine modalities strategically.
7. What’s the difference between Medical Grade
& Cosmetic Grade HIFU?
Medical Grade HIFU is for deep lifting and tightening, it’s uncomfortable and you can only have up to five treatments within a 12mth period. Cosmetic grade is very mild, not for deep lifting and tightening and you can have more than five treatments within a 12mth period.
